Canning Foods at Home to Preserve Garden Harvest

7/8/2020

Picture
Learn how to preserve your homegrown garden harvest by canning vegetables and fruits at home! Canning is a method to preserve food in jars at high temperatures for a long period of time, killing microorganisms and inactivates enzymes. The heating process removes air from the jar, creating a vacuum seal as food cools. Before getting started, you will need some basic canning tools to make your canning process easy. *Please note: Canning supplies are in high demand right now. Many products keeping running low on stock or are out of stock temporarily.

1. Ball Canning Jars

Ball Jars are classic canning jars that come with rings and lids so that you are ready to start canning! You can purchase pint or quart size jars depending on your canning needs!

3. Canner 20-Quart Stock Pot

Roots & Branches created a 20-quart canner appropriately named "Harvest" that is made with stainless steel. It comes with a canning rack that holds 8 pint or 7 quart jars. My favorite feature is the temperature indicator on the lid that tells you when the water is ready for canning depending on your elevation.

4. Funnel

I love this canning funnel because it fits wide and regular mouth jars. It is a very clean and clever design that doesn't make a mess!
