HOW TO WATER YOUR GARDEN

Learn how to water a Back to Eden organic garden.

“Here is the incredible thing about God and His design, when there is too much water the wood chips displace it and when there is not enough, the wood chips retain it.” - Paul Gautschi

STEP #1

Always water to germinate your seeds after planting!
TIP: Use an irrigation timer with a sprinkler and hose to save labor and automatically water your seeds. Touch the soil daily to ensure the ground is damp but not overwatered.

STEP #2

Water as needed. Watering is only necessary if the compost below the wood chips is dry to the touch.
Tip: Set up your own drip irrigation system for perennials or orchards. For rows of veggies try a soaker hose. It's portable and required less set up. Both irrigation systems can be set up just beneath the mulch surface to reduce evaporation.

Back to Eden Gardening reduces watering needs by up to 90%
